Photo & Art Contest
Who May Enter:
This Contest is open to anyone living in the Ottawa area who is of school age or older.
Theme: Wild in the Garden
How to Enter Photography Contest:
1. Take photos that relate to the theme in some way. Must be taken during the 2014 calendar year.
2. Submit no more than three 5” x 7” photos. Submit using the Submission guidelines below. Do NOT put your name on your photos!
3. The photos submitted must be taken by the contestant. Any adjustment or alteration of the photos is to be the work of the contestant.
How to Enter Art Contest:
1. Create an original piece of art that relates to the theme. Art work can include drawing, painting, fabric, mixed media, recycled material, or any combination. Artwork should be from works completed during the 2014 calendar year.
2. Artwork may be one or two dimensional, and be a minimum of 5” x 7” in size, to a maximum of 5’ x 7’, although some leeway will be allowed. Artwork must be movable by judges.
3. Submit no more than two pieces of art. Submit using the Submission guidelines below. Do NOT put your name on your art, otherwise it must be concealed until after judging!
4. The artwork must be done by the contestant.
Age Categories:
There are three age categories:
- Up to Grade Six
- Grade Seven to Grade Twelve
- Adult
Judging Criteria:
1. Interpretation of theme (25%)
2. Use of Elements and Principles of design (50%)
3. Appeal (25%)
Submission:
- All entries are to be delivered to the Office of Bells Corners United Church between October 13-17, 2014. Office hours are 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. (map)
- Photo entries and smaller art entries are to be submitted in an envelope marked ‘ECO-Fair Contest’ with the contestant’s name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address (if available) on the outside. Do not put names on photos.
- Art entries are to have the contestant’s name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address (if available) paper clipped or pinned on to the work.
- School age contestants also must submit their date of birth and a parent or guardian’s statement and signature indicating the work submitted is that of the contestant, for both photo and art entries.
- Contestants are invited to attach a sentence or two of explanation to their work (photo or art) if the interpretation isn’t self-evident.
